Mr. Glenn Carp is a highly accomplished ophthalmic surgeon. He is originally from South Africa and qualified as a doctor in Johannesburg in 1996. He is now one of the UK’s best and most highly trained laser eye surgeons.
Mr. Carp is on the Specialist Register with the General Medical Council (GMC), and is a member of the South African Medical and Dental Council.
He began his specialist career in South Africa as an ophthalmic senior house officer followed by a year as a research officer in ophthalmology at the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2000, he began his four-year specialist registrar training at Johannesburg’s St. John Eye Hospital, Africa’s largest eye Hospital. He received the Tetski Patterson Award for clinical research and the Elli Dahan Registrar of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the field.
When he moved to the UK, he worked as a doctor in numerous leading hospitals including The Western Eye Hospital, Maidstone General Hospital, Preston Royal Hospital and Worcester Royal Hospital.
Mr. Carp was also selected for a prestigious one-year fellowship in Cornea and nterior Segment Pathology and Surgery at London’s Western Eye Hospital. He then undertook an 18-month fellowship training in laser refractive surgery at London Vision Clinic under the clinic’s founder, Professor Dan Reinstein.
His talent impressed Professor Reinstein, who later on appointed him as the second member of the London Vision Clinic surgical team. Today, Mr. Carp performs LASIK eye surgery, ReLEx SMILE and PRK at the clinic.
Aside from treating his own, Mr. Carp himself has had LASIK eye surgery performed by Professor Reinstein and now enjoys his 20/12 vision. This unique perspective on the surgery both as a surgeon and a patient shows in the way he approaches each patient, and has earned him many positive reviews.
During his spare time, he travels with his wife,and enjoys his many hobbies, including fly-fishing, scuba diving and photography. He is also an enthusiast of Formula 1 racing and 4×4 excursions.
